COVID-19 update: Friends House closure extended until the end of August

Following recent announcements from the Government about relaxing COVID-19 restrictions, I wanted to update you on the reopening of Friends House.

As an organisation, our priority for reopening our premises is the safety of our staff and customers, as well as considering the overall viability of running our services as our gift aided profits support the work of Quakers in Britain.

The Government hasn’t yet given us a date for the conference and events venues to reopen or any guidance on what restrictions might be in place, so whilst we have COVID-19 safety building plansready to implement, it isn’t yet viable to reopen our retail offers or to be place of worship under the current restrictions.

We, therefore, are planning to remain closed until the end of August, and plan to reopen the Café, bookshop, and worship space on 1st September from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. And if restrictions have been lifted, we will also reopen our conference and events meeting spaces.

We are sorry if our decision impacts those of you who were wishing to use our facilities in August or had bookings during this time. Our team will be in touch soon to offer you an alternative date or refund.

Thank you all for your continued kind words of support as we all navigate our way these uncertain times. The team and I are looking forward to welcoming you all back in September.
