It’s no secret that we all need to be more sustainable in how we live our lives. The UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals were created to ensure that the planet and all those on it can live peacefully, without poverty in an environmentally friendly world. 

Friends House has several policies in place to ensure that we do our part in this, which are built into our environmental commitments. We are committed to sustainability. We take action to reduce our carbon emissions, cut our waste, choose local sourcing and preserve our ecosystem. With us, events don’t cost the earth.

We embody the use of SDGs in how an organisation operates. We have identified 5 key Sustainable Development Goals that we aim to achieve by implementing key practices into our operating procedures. 

• • Goal 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
  • Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all
  • Goal 12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
  • Goal 13 – Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
  • Goal 15 – Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

Although there are 17 SDGs in total, we have decided to commit to five. As a small company, we prefer to commit fully to the SDGs we know we can really contribute to.

We have developed a ‘Strategic Environmental & Sustainability Plan‘ where we have looked at every aspect of our business to come up with clear targets, that we plan to achieve by 2030.
